In Someone Else's Camp

Everyday many of us get up and leave our homes to travel to work, school, appointments and meetings. And when we leave our home, our camp, we leave our foundation.  The foundation of my home is a Christian foundation; built on biblical principles.  We don't have perfect home, but it doesn't stand on shaky ground either.  We stand for truth and do our best to line our lives up with God's word.  Our home is our camp; it's where we laugh together, make memories as a family, keep certain traditions, pray and intercede, fall together and rise again like an army.  In our camp, we are raising our kids by truth (God's word), building our core-beliefs and teaching right from wrong.  In our camp, we are like-minded, we have created a culture that we all have an intricate part in the operation of it and the focus is the Lord and His Kingdom.

But, when we leave our camp and we step outside; we now enter someone else's camp.  And their camp doesn't have what your camp has.  It may not even be standing on the same foundation that your camp does.  So, I have to ask the question, "when you are in someone else's camp, how do you function?"  When we enter the camp of work; there are certain rules, policies and guidelines that have been put in place for the operation of that camp.  And those requirements and expectations may not line up with the core beliefs, standards and principles that you function by in your own life. Maybe their culture is loose and welcomes a "free-for-all" environment and you are use to accountability and structure.

I am learning that, when I am in someone else's camp, the goal is not to change the culture, but respect it. I don't have to lay down my cross to move about in a free-for-all atmosphere.  I can follow the rules and not compromise my faith, the policies don't dictate the truth that I stand on. I keep my conviction that the Lord is holding me accountability no matter whose camp I am in.  So when I am in someone else's camp and my core beliefs and principles set me aside from the rest of the campers; my connection with the Holy Spirit is my guide and my shield; He helps me maneuver through the trail.

So when I step into someone else's camp, I enter in knowing; the culture is different, the beliefs and principles are not the same, the foundation under my feet may even be shaky, but, because of the camp that I come out of; I don't have to fall, I can remain solid and stand.

Today, I just want to encourage you and myself, when we leave our camp and we go to someone else's camp; we are still soldiers for the Kingdom. The Lord still expects us to function by biblical principle. Our conviction doesn't leave because the culture isn't fitting for it.  In someone else's camp, when the ground is shaky, we may be the only rod that is keeping that foundation from breaking. Continue to stand for truth, wear your badge that flashes your core beliefs and hold to your biblical principles. We never leave the camp of the Lord. His camp is mobile and we can set it up wherever we go.  Don't be a prideful soldier, just continue to keep the banner of Christ lifted up.  And when the atmosphere is loose and unguided, cease the opportunity to win one more soldier ... for the Kingdom!

Remember, surrender all ...
